Let us save you some scrolling

GoHighLevel is a full marketing and automation platform. Missed-call text-back is not an add-on there — it is built in, it has been for years, and it works. The starter plan is around $97 a month and the agency plan around $297.

Tens of thousands of agencies build on it and resell it to businesses exactly like yours. It is one of the most capable pieces of software a small business can rent for a hundred bucks.

So if you are already paying for GHL, or you enjoy building workflows, stop reading and go turn it on. We are not going to invent reasons for you to pay us instead.

Still here? Then the rest of this page is for the contractor who opened GHL, saw the words “snapshot,” “trigger link” and “custom values,” and closed the tab.

When GoHighLevel is the better buy

Five situations where we would genuinely tell you to go the other way.

You like building things

Some owners genuinely enjoy an automation canvas at 9pm. If that is you, GHL will let you do things we will never allow, and you will get exactly the system you pictured.

You already pay for it

If GHL is already on your card, adding missed-call text-back costs you an evening, not $49 a month. Turning on a feature you own beats buying a second subscription.

An agency runs it for you

If a marketing agency already manages your funnels, ads and follow-up inside GHL, adding text-back is a ticket to them. Keep the system of record in one place.

You want everything in one system

Email, SMS, funnels, calendars, pipelines, courses, reputation dashboards. GHL covers a footprint we do not touch and never will.

You want to resell it

GHL is built for agencies to rebrand and resell. If your plan is to sell software to other contractors, that is a business model they support and we support differently.

Any of those describe you?

Then GoHighLevel is your answer and we just saved you $49 a month. Bookmark us in case it stops being fun.

We would rather be the honest page you remember than the trial you cancelled.

What GoHighLevel asks of you

None of this is a flaw. A platform is supposed to be a box of parts — that is what makes it powerful. It just means somebody has to assemble it, and on a one-truck shop that somebody is you.

  • Import or build a snapshot, then wire the workflow, triggers and conditions
  • Buy and configure a phone number, call forwarding and the missed-call trigger
  • File your own A2P 10DLC brand and campaign registration, and fix it when it is rejected
  • Write the message copy, the business-hours logic and the stop-on-reply rules
  • Maintain all of it forever, including the morning it silently stops firing

Handy owners get through that in a weekend. Plenty of others start it in March and it is still half-built in August, quietly not texting anybody back.

Decision fork: build it yourself in GoHighLevel with snapshots, workflows and your own 10DLC paperwork, versus running Tailgate Office already assembled

Pick one column

Whichever side you land on, the worst outcome is doing neither and letting the phone keep ringing out.

Pick GoHighLevel if…

  • You are comfortable in a workflow builder, or you have someone who is.
  • You want one system for email, SMS, funnels, calendars and pipelines.
  • You want to own the automation and change any step whenever you like.
  • You intend to resell software to other businesses.
  • You already pay for a GHL account that is sitting half-used.
  • You do not mind handling your own 10DLC registration.

Pick Tailgate Office if…

  • You want it working tonight without learning anybody's builder.
  • You want a real price range on your website, not a contact form.
  • You want somebody else to file the A2P 10DLC paperwork when your account goes live for texting.
  • You want one bill, one support number and one thing to cancel.
  • Nobody in your company enjoys software and nobody is going to start.
  • You also need to hire, and crew screening is in the same $199.

The one thing GHL does not ship

GoHighLevel gives you forms, surveys and funnels. What it does not give you is a quoting engine that understands 140 linear feet of six-foot cedar with two gates, tear-out included, twelve miles out and returns a defensible price range.

You can approximate it with custom fields and math workflows. People do. It takes real effort, it breaks when you change a rate, and it still will not handle minimums, travel zones and material multipliers the way a purpose-built quoter does.

  • Per-foot, per-square-foot, flat-fee and tiered pricing with minimums
  • Travel zones by ZIP, seasonal rates and material multipliers, all set in one screen
  • Ranges, never a fixed number — you keep room to inspect and confirm
  • Change one rate and every future quote updates, no workflow surgery

The flow also asks for photos, so the lead records that she has pictures and you know to ask for them on the callback. Attaching the image itself is on the roadmap, which is why it is not a tick in the list above.

The real cost, including the parts that are not on an invoice

Software price is the easy column. The other rows are where the actual difference lives.

Straight answers

No. We run our own stack. That matters mainly because it means our roadmap is contractor quoting and contractor hiring, not whatever a general-purpose platform prioritises next quarter.

You would not, if you are happy building and maintaining it. You would if your time is worth more than $49 a month, you want per-foot quoting that GHL does not ship, and you would rather someone else own the 10DLC paperwork and the 7am outage. Worth knowing before you decide: GHL is sending texts today and we are not — our carrier registration is still clearing, so text-back queues rather than delivers. If that is the only thing you came for and you need it this week, GHL is the honest answer.

Yes, with one rule: only one system should text back a given phone number, or callers get two messages and think you are a robot farm. Plenty of shops keep GHL for email and pipelines and use our quote widget on the website.

It is the carrier registration that decides whether your business texts actually get delivered in the United States. Unregistered traffic gets filtered or blocked. In GHL you file it yourself per sub-account. We file it for you as part of onboarding when your account goes live for texting, and to be exact about it, nothing has been filed for anybody yet: the filing follows the SMS gateway, and neither is connected. It is boring and it is the difference between working and not working.

At $97 a month for the starter plan, the software line is cheaper than our $199 bundle and about the same as our $99 quote product. Whether it is cheaper overall depends entirely on what your weekend is worth and whether you would have finished the build.
