Nobody in this market sells the same four things we do

That sounds like marketing. It is actually the reason this page is awkward to write. ResponsiBid quotes. Podium messages. Team Engine hires. Each of them is good at their one lane and mostly deeper in it than we are.

Tailgate Office covers all four lanes at a price built for a business with one to fifteen people in it. The trade is breadth for depth: if you need the most sophisticated bidding engine ever built for window cleaning, that is ResponsiBid and we will say so in writing.

What we will not do is compare our price to their price and skip the part where they do things we do not.

One dashboard. Owner-operators and crews of 1–15 who already have a website, a phone number and a way to schedule, and want the front-office gap closed without switching any of it.
ResponsiBid $179–229 Reported $400–600 Month to month
Seasonal pause ~$50/mo
Instant online bidding with deep configuration, plus long automated follow-up sequences. Quoting only — no call rescue, no hiring. Pressure washing and window cleaning companies who want the most configurable bidding engine in the trade and will pay setup to get it dialled in.
Podium $399–999 Varies by package Typically annual Review generation and management, webchat, payments, a shared inbox, and missed-call text-back. Broad messaging suite. No instant quoting, no hiring. Multi-location businesses with someone whose actual job is the front desk, and a marketing budget that can absorb five figures a year.
Team Engine $400–500 Not published Sold as an annual agreement Hiring pipelines, applicant texting, and ongoing crew communication. Hiring only — nothing on the customer side. Companies hiring more or less constantly at 25+ headcount, where a dedicated recruiting system earns its keep on volume alone.
GoHighLevel $97–297 None from GHL
Agency build-out varies
Month to month A full CRM and marketing platform. Missed-call text-back is included natively. Instant quoting and hiring are things you build yourself. Agencies, and operators who genuinely enjoy building automations. Enormous capability if you will do the work; an expensive blank page if you will not.
QuoteIQ $299
Elite tier — the widget is gated to it
None published Month to month Full field-service CRM: quoting, scheduling, invoicing, payments. The instant-quote widget only unlocks on the top tier. Shops ready to move their whole operation onto one platform and retire whatever they use today.
Do it yourself $50–150 in tools
plus your weekends
None None Whatever you wire together out of Twilio, a form builder, Zapier and a job board — until one of them changes an API and it stops silently. Someone who likes this stuff, has winter downtime, and will notice within a day when the text-back quietly stops firing. That is a real person. It is just rarely the owner of a fencing company in June.

Year one, out the door

Arithmetic on the published monthly figures times twelve, plus reported setup fees where they exist. It is not a like-for-like feature comparison — Podium at $999 is managing reviews and taking payments, neither of which we do, and GoHighLevel at $297 can do things we will never do. It is a comparison of what leaves your bank account to get quotes, calls and hiring handled.

† Billing is by invoice until our payment processor is connected, so annual prepay is invoiced rather than charged to a card today. ‡ Missed calls are logged and the reply is composed now and kept for you to read (one held more than an hour is never sent); delivery, from your own texting number, switches on when your A2P 10DLC carrier registration clears. Podium’s tick in that row is sending today, and we are not going to blur that.

Three of these deserve a longer answer

The ones contractors actually ask us about on the phone.

vs. ResponsiBid

The closest thing to a straight fight, because we both put a price on a homeowner’s screen. They are deeper in quoting configuration and have been at it far longer. We are roughly half the monthly, have no setup fee, and throw in the call and hiring side. Where the extra $400–600 up front is worth it — and where it is not.

vs. Podium

Podium is a real platform with reviews, webchat and payments that we do not do at all. It is also $399 to $999 a month, usually on an annual contract, aimed at businesses with a front desk. If all you actually wanted from it was missed-call text-back, you are paying four to twelve times over for the rest of the suite.

vs. GoHighLevel

GoHighLevel includes missed-call text-back natively at $97–297 and can, in principle, do everything on this website. The catch is that it is a platform, not a product — somebody has to build it, maintain it and fix it when it breaks. Usually that somebody is an agency billing you monthly on top.

Things the other guys do that we do not

If one of these is the thing you came shopping for, you are on the wrong website and we would rather you found that out now.

Read this part

Four situations where you should not buy from us

A refund is expensive for both of us. A five-minute read is not.

1

You want one CRM that is the system of record

If the goal is one platform for scheduling, dispatch, job costing and the books going back three years, that is QuoteIQ, Jobber, Housecall Pro or ServiceTitan — and you should buy one of those first. We deliberately sit beside your system of record and hand it leads. Bolting a fourth tool onto a business that has not picked its main one yet is how you end up with four tools and no answers.

2

You are a franchisee on a mandated stack

If corporate says leads go through their portal, their phone system and their approved vendor list, do not fight it over a $199 subscription. The text-back works by forwarding the calls nobody answers off your business line, and if corporate runs that phone system the forwarding is not yours to switch on. We also cannot promise your franchisor’s compliance team the paperwork they will ask for. Ask them whether missed-call text-back is on the approved list; if it is not, that is a conversation with them and not with us.

3

You have 25+ employees and need ServiceTitan-class software

At that size you have dispatchers, a service manager, capacity planning and probably a call center that already answers the phone. The 62% miss-rate problem we exist to fix is not your problem. Your problems are routing, job costing and technician utilisation, and there is real enterprise software for those. Buy it.

4

Your quoting is genuinely custom

Full-gut remodels, custom cabinetry, structural work, historic restoration, anything you cannot price without standing in the room — an instant-quote widget will actively hurt you there. A homeowner who sees “$40,000–$95,000” on a screen learns nothing and calls somebody else. CallMitt™ on its own at $49 may still be worth it, because missing a call about a $90,000 remodel is a different kind of bad day. But do not buy NapkinPrice™ for that work. It is the wrong tool and we will tell you so on the phone.

If you are in one of those four buckets and you sign up anyway, we will most likely call you during the trial and say so. Churn in month three is worse for us than a signup we never got.

How to run a fair bake-off in two weeks

You do not have to take anyone’s word for this, including ours. Run it.

  • Keep what you have running. Our trial sits alongside your current tools on the same website and the same phone number. Nothing gets torn out.
  • Pull your call log first. Count last month’s missed calls before you start. That is your baseline, and it is usually worse than people expect.
  • Score three things only: did the reply get composed and queued the moment the missed call was logged, did the widget put out prices you would stand behind, and did any of it turn into a job on your schedule.
  • Give it a full two weeks including a weekend. Saturday morning is when the miss rate is ugliest and the text-back looks best.
  • Check the number, not the vibe. The dashboard shows calls missed, replies queued and dollars quoted. If it says zero, do not buy it.

Thirty days, no credit card, no setup fee, and cancelling is a button rather than a phone call. There is nothing to unwind if the answer is no.
